Study of Thyroid Carcinoma in Solitary Thyroid Nodule

Introduction solitary thyroid nodule is defined as a single discrete mass of abnormal tissue in an otherwise normal thyroid gland. In different studies, thyroid nodules were found in 4-7 percent of American adults. Thyroid nodule is probably one of the commonest endocrine problems in the wold. In a report from the thyroid clinic, IPGMR, Dhaka, 32.67 percent of all thyroid patients had solitary thyroid nodule. The frequency of thyroid nodule increases through out life. More than two third of the nodules are solitary and most of the solitary thyroid nodule are non-neoplastic. The incidence of carcinoma varies in different series.
